YouTube TV Gives Subscribers One-Week Credit After Outage
On October 16, YouTube experienced an outage that affected all of its users, including YouTube Music and YouTube TV customers. Though the sites weren't down for long before being restored, Google is offering a one-week service credit for YouTube TV customers who were impacted. A new support page has been created where customers can redeem their credit.
YouTube TV subscribers have received an email from YouTube apologizing for the outage that took place earlier this week. "We love our TV as much as you do, and our goal is to make sure that you can access your events and shows — whenever and however you want," the email reads.
Customers who were subscribers on October 16 can now visit this Google Support page and enter their email address to redeem a free week of service. The user must enter the email address associated with their YouTube TV account to get the credit. As well, the redemption period is only available until October 24.
YouTube had acknowledged the outage on its Team YouTube Twitter account, where it had said that it was working on restoring service. It was only minutes later when the service posted another tweet announcing that YouTube was back online, but no explanation for the downtime was provided.
