Xperia XZ3 Gets Its Own Exclusive Google Assistant Commands

One of Samsung Bixby's promises was the ability to control almost every aspect of your phone with voice alone. It didn't take long for LG to offer those same capabilities in the LG G7 ThinQ but, thankfully, it didn't reinvent the wheel and teamed up with Google instead to perform those commands through Google Assistant. Now Sony is revealing that it had struck the same partnership and has a few special Google Assistant commands that you'll only be able to use if you own an Xperia XZ3.

That's because all of these exclusive commands and queries revolve around the smartphone's unique features. Dynamic Vibration, for example, tries to offer an immersive viewing experience with its haptic feedback. You can ask Google Assistant to "Try Dynamic Vibration" or to even turn it on selectively only for, say, YouTube.

Other commands are more or less direct instructions to launch an app in a certain mode, like "Take a 4K HDR movie" or "Take a super slow-motion video" to open the camera app with the appropriate settings. You can also open Sony-exclusive apps like "Open 3D Creator" or "Open Side sense settings".

Users, however, might be lost with all the new features Sony brought to the table. So they can simply as Google Assistant "what is Side sense?" or "what is Smart launch?" Don't know where to start asking? Just ask it "what can this phone do?"

These Google Assistant commands definitely go a long way beyond simple toggling of sound or Wi-Fi settings. Bixby, admittedly, still has a head start when it comes to controlling operations inside apps, even some third-party apps. Plus, these aren't available on any Android smartphone and you'll need to have the $900 Sony Xperia XZ3 to use them.
