Xperia XZ1 Price And Press Renders Leak
With the Galaxy Note 8 out of the way, the road is now clear for other smartphone makers to try and still the spotlight, and consumers' attention, in the next few days. Next in line is LG's "anti-stylus" V30 and at least two of Sony's next premium models. While there's barely anything else to be said of the former, there's plenty of room left for the Xperia XZ1 and XZ1 Compact. And, as luck would have it, we're seeing new information about them, including prices and even press photos.
While the Xperia XZ Premium is Sony's nominal flagship, not everyone might care for its 4K screen or its price tag. Some might be willing to make a few compromises for something powerful yet affordable. For them, the Xperia XZ1 might be the better deal.
This smartphone will similarly be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 and have 4 GB of RAM. There's also 64 GB of storage on board, usually expandable. The one concession is that it will only have a 1080p screen. Not even QHD or 2K.
For all of that, however, the Xperia XZ1 will allegedly carry a 599 GBP price tag, somewhere along the likes of $770. It's definitely lower than the Xperia XZ Premium's launch price and still lower than after its price cut. The same leak also puts a 499 GBP or $640 price on the Xperia XZ1 Compact, which might also be just as premium save for a smaller screen.
A separate leak gives us an idea of what the Xperia XZ1 could look like, allegedly lifted from Sony's own press materials. It's a familiar sight, except for the odd position of the flash and sensors on the back. The images do bring something disappointing: the absence of a fingerprint scanner anywhere other than the power button. Sony fans in the US will just have to wait another year for some good news on that front.
