Xbox 360 Top Selling Console 10 Out Of The Last 11 Months
Xbox 360 was the number one selling video game console in April, according to NPD Group, and it also ranks as the top selling console for 10 out of the last 11 months. The Xbox 360 has had half of the top ranking games for April of this year, and consumers have spent $310 million on Xbox 360 hardware, software and accessories in April alone. Pretty impressive. In April, according to the report, five of the top ten console game titles were for Xbox 360, including "Mortal Kombat," "Portal 2," "Crysis 2," "Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12: The Masters," and "Michael Jackson: The Experience." The Portal 2 launch had brought out all sorts of craziness, and had even had some on reddit bemoaning the fact that nobody would talk about anything else.
In more good news for Microsoft, Xbox 360 console sales were up 60 percent from April of 2010, which according the the NPD report is the largest growth of any current generation console on the market. There were 297,000 Xbox consoles sold in April. Microsoft's purchase of Skype also gives Xbox players VoIP integration to look forward to in the future.

According to NPD Group, Xbox 360 was the number one selling video game console in April. Xbox 360 has been the top selling console in the United States for 10 out of the last 11 months and is the best selling console in 2011.
Consumer demand for Kinect and Kinect games continue to spur console momentum. Sales for "Kinect Sports" have surpassed 3 million units worldwide and "Dance Central" sales eclipsed 2.5 million units worldwide**. And in anticipation of another record year in 2011, Microsoft announced the size of the Kinect games portfolio will triple by the end of the year.
April 2011 NPD highlights include:
