Volvo XC40 Recharge Gallery
It may look like a regular Volvo XC40, but the new XC40 Recharge is actually something very special indeed. It's the first of Volvo's new Recharge series, the branding the Swedish automaker will use for its electrified cars, whether they're fully-electric like the XC40 Recharge, or plug-in hybrids.
In the case of the XC40 Recharge, it's based on the XC40 crossover but with a twin-engine AWD electric drivetrain. The two 150 kW motors – one front, one rear – deliver 408 horsepower and 660 Nm (487 lb-ft) of torque. Volvo says that should make for a 0-60 mph time of 4.9 seconds.
Range, meanwhile, is more than 400 kilometers (249 miles) on the WLTP cycle. A 40 minute charge with a fast charger should be enough for an 80-percent charge of the battery, which is slung low beneath the cabin. Inside, there's a brand new infotainment system built on Android Automotive OS.
