VIA VB8003 Mini-ITX Gets Dual HDMI, Can Drive 5 Displays At Once [Video]
When you start calling your new product the "ultimate Mini-ITX HD multimedia platform" you better have some meat to back it up, but we've a feeling VIA's new mainboard will be able to deliver. The VIA VB8003 is the world's first such 'board with discrete onboard graphics, capable of pumping out 1080p high-definition video through two HDMI ports; there's also a DVI port and a VGA port.Video demo after the cut
Grunt is courtesy of a 1.6GHz VIA Nano processor together with the company's VX800 media system processor and an S3 Graphics 435 ULP graphics processor; up to 4GB of RAM is supported. Combined, VIA have demonstrated that the VB8003 is capable of driving five displays simultaneously, which you can see in the video below.
Other connectivity includes dual gigabit ethernet, four USB 2.0, PS2 and serial ports, together with two SATA ports, an IDE connector and a CompactFlash slot. Maximum resolution is a whopping 2560 x 1600. No word on pricing as yet; we're waiting to hear back from VIA.
Update: The VB8003 will have a $340 price tag once it arrives in the US; we're still waiting to hear exactly when that launch will happen.

The VIA VB8003 Mini-ITX board is powered by a 1.6GHz VIA Nano processor coupled with the VIA VX800 media system processor and the S3 Graphics 435 ULP graphics processor. Supporting up to 4GB of DDR2 system memory, the VIA VB8003's dedicated GPU can take advantage of 256MB of dedicated GDDR3 graphics memory.
On-board I/O includes dual HDMI, a DVI port, VGA port and two RCA jacks, dual Gigabit Ethernet RJ-45 ports, four USB 2.0 ports, serial and PS2 ports. Storage includes two S-ATA ports, a 40-pin IDE and a type 2 Compact Flash slot.
