Toyota Century Gallery
Few cars have persisted with little in the way of change as the Toyota Century. Created initially back in 1967 to celebrate the 100th birthday of the company's founder, it's only now entering its third generation. Indeed, 21 years have passed since the last refresh.
Toyota is making the most of the opportunity, therefore. A new hybrid drivetrain is featured, combining a 5.0-liter V8 engine and an electric motor system. There are all manner of active safety features, including the ability for the Century to automatically summon air or land rescue in the event of a crash.
Really, though, the goal is smooth, serene cruising for whoever is lucky enough to sit in the back seat. Toyota's craftspeople put hours and hours of work into the car, and the results are somehow both subtle and dramatic. Even then, Toyota only expects to sell 50 each month.
