Toshiba Unveils The World's First 4K Laptop, The P55t

Toshiba has announced they will be bringing 4K to your laptop. Their P55t device, which launches later this month, has a 15.6-inch Ultra HD TruBrite touchscreen display has a 3840 x 2160 resolution at 282 PPI. The laptop is the first to ever receive Technicolor certification, too.

Skipping no steps, Toshiba says "each Ultra HD display is individually calibrated by Chroma Tune™ and is Technicolor Certified during production to realize natural color expression with an accurate color gamut to ensure true-to-life imagery." Toshiba notes this brings each image to near lifelike resolution and color matching, which they've rightly positioned as being a good option for media enthusiasts. To that end, Toshiba is also offering a full version of Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5 with purchase of the P55t.

The edge-to-edge glass is backed by an AMD Radeon R9 M265X GPU and 2GB GDRR5 video memory. A full terabyte of internal storage, Harmon Kardon speakers, and backlit keyboard are on offer as well. Toshiba will also be implementing a Core i7 processor and up to 16GB DDR3 memory.

The P55t launches April 22, and will retail for $1,499. Without the 4K monitor, it's an impressive device. A 4K monitor wherever you go is something we'd really enjoy, though, and we think those who make a living in visual media are going to want to take a hard look at this one.
