This Diablo 3 on Nintendo Switch teaser is perfect

It wasn't too long ago that Blizzard developed for PC and PC only. Though it's had a few console releases throughout the years (and, indeed, used to develop primarily for consoles back before the arrival of the first Warcraft game), most of Blizzard's big games have only been available on PC. There's been one notable exception to that rule: Diablo 3, which is available on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One after initially being ported to previous-generation consoles.

It would seem that Blizzard isn't quite done with the Diablo 3 console ports. Blizzard is teasing something new for Diablo 3 over on the game's official Twitter account, sharing a GIF of someone switching a Diablo night light on and off. That seems to suggest that Diablo 3 is headed to the Nintendo Switch, which is a port many players have been asking for.

In truth, we can't say for sure that this is referencing an impending Switch release for Diablo 3, but then again, what else could it be? It almost certainly isn't a tease for Diablo 4, and even if that's something Blizzard is secretly working on, the call out to the Switch seems too obvious for this to be referencing anything else.

That Blizzard would bring Diablo 3 to Switch makes sense given the console's successful first year. Nintendo is on track to sell 20 million consoles by the end of its fiscal year on March 31, vastly exceeding its original projections. That kind of early audience is hard to ignore, so perhaps today's Diablo 3 tease shouldn't come as much of a surprise.

A Switch version of Diablo 3 will likely include all of the content Blizzard has released thus far, including the Reaper of Souls expansion and Rise of the Necromancer pack. The idea of portable dungeon crawling is an exciting one (at least for me), so hopefully we'll see Blizzard give this port an official reveal soon. Stay tuned.
