ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 2 Revealed: 9th-Gen Intel Core Processors And GTX 1650

Lenovo has taken the wraps off its ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 2 model, revealing an update to 9th-generation Intel Core i9 processors and the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 GPU with Max-Q design. The system brings everything we love about the ThinkPad X1 lineup, including the classic, durable design, as well an an optional display perfect for graphics professionals.

The X1 Extreme Gen 2 improves an already impressive machine, offering professionals a portable powerhouse with features covering many bases, including security, portability, and durability. Buyers can expect a high level of portability with a weight of only 3.76lbs, as well as excellent durability for on the go needs thanks, in part, to a carbon fiber weave finish.

Notable in the second-generation ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 2 is the updated 9th-generation Intel Core i9 processors, GeForce GTX 1650 MaxQ 4GB GDDR5 GPU, and Dolby Atmos speaker system. Joining the new hardware are dual 360-degree far-field microphones, up to 64GB DDR4 memory, and up to a massive 4TB PCIe SSD.

This business laptop packs a number of important security features, including a dTPM 2.0 chip, fingerprint reader, and an IR camera that can be used with Windows Hello for facial recognition. The model also includes the ThinkShutter camera cover for blocking the webcam when it's not in use.

The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 2 will be available starting in July with a base price of $1,499.99 USD.
