Surface Laptop 2 Has A New Color That You Can't Get

Microsoft is turning the Surface brand into something more akin to smartphones. It has expanded the name to include accessories, for one, like mice, dials, and, now, headphones. It has also introduced a new Surface Pro 6 with a new color variant. Its latest move? Sell color variants that are available only in select markets. That's exactly what Microsoft Surface chief Panos Panay did in Beijing today when he announced a new Blush color for the Surface Laptop 2 that you can purchase only if you reside in China.

Some would call it Pink Gold, Rose Gold, Powder Pink, or just Pink. Microsoft simply calls it Blush. Unsurprisingly, Panay's tweet employs a female model as the color has closely been associated with the gender. Though, of course, tastes can vary wildly.

The exec mentions that the special color was developed by Chinese designer Quan exclusively for the market. Why it is, we can never really know. It's not like pink hasn't sold well in other markets, judging by the popularity of the option as far as smartphones and tablets go. Microsoft has not made any other color exclusive to any other market either.

Fortunately you can just stick a skin on as Surface Laptop 2 if you're blushing with envy. In all other aspects, the Blush Surface Laptop 2 is exactly the same as any other color of Surface Laptop 2, including the lack of USB-C ports. Pre-orders have started for the pink color, which costs 9,988 RMB, roughly $1,450 on JD.com.
