Who Really Makes Craftsman And DeWalt, And Are They The Same?
By ELI BECHT
While Craftsman and DeWalt are two different tool brands, they are owned by the same company. Black and Decker purchased DeWalt in 1960 and Craftsman in 2017.
Despite being well-known for their reliability and having roughly the same price point for many of their products, the two tool brands are different.
What sets the brands apart most is who they typically target. Craftsman has made a name for itself in the automotive sector, while DeWalt has good options available for DIYers.
Another difference is manufacturing. Both have plants across the United States, but Craftsman uses materials from around the world, while some DeWalt tools use domestic materials.
