Want To Watch YouTube On Android Auto? Here's How
By CODY D. CAMPBELL
While there isn’t any official support for YouTube on Android Auto due to driving safety concerns, you can still watch the video platform by following a few simple steps.
Begin by heading into your Android device’s Settings menu to find the option that allows you to download apps directly from the Chrome browser.
Some phones will have this setting under Security and Privacy and then App Security, while others might have it located under Apps and then Chrome.
Afterward, download the Android Auto Apps Downloader, specifically the .apk file located under “Assets” on the AAAD GitHub page, and install it on your device.
Grant AAAD permission to download apps and locate CarStream, which should be under the category marked “Multimedia Apps.”
Once the app is downloaded, open it on your Android device, tap the three dots in the top right corner, and select Settings. From here, tick the “enable desktop mode” box.
After you connect your phone to the car’s display, you should see CarStream on the list of available apps. Tapping on the app should bring you right to YouTube’s homepage.
