Toyota’s $13,000 Pickup Truck Comes With Some Important Pros And Cons
By ALVIN REYES
Based on the IMV 0 Concept, Toyota unveiled the Hilux Champ in Thailand. This $13,000 pickup truck comes bare but can be customized for its owner's preference.
While the truck is unlikely to be sold in the U.S. without increasing its price exponentially, the pros and cons of owning a Hilux Champ are not hard to determine.
In addition to being cheaper than other trucks, the Hilux Champ is available in various configurations, including engine size, trim grades, and manual or automatic transmission.
The Hilux Champ also offers various add-on options, such as a camper with a roof-mounted tent, a medical van with refrigeration, a food truck, or an RV-style camper.
Unfortunately, the truck lacks modern safety equipment such as airbags or anti-lock brakes. It also lacks comfort features like heated seats, lumbar support, or power windows.
In addition, the Hilux Champ is rear-wheel drive only with no available all-wheel drive, making it unsuitable over rugged or loose terrain.
