This Is Why Your Xbox Series X|S Is Slow (And How You Can Fix It)
By ELIJAH RAWLS
Network slow-downs can dull the gaming experience for Xbox Series X|S owners. Luckily, there are some steps you can take to solve choppy online gameplay and slow downloads.
Disconnect your modem and router from their power for at least 30 seconds, then reconnect them. If your console doesn't reconnect, you will need to do it manually.
Go to Profile & system > Settings > General > Network and choose "Set up wireless network." If resetting doesn't improve your speed, consider using an ethernet cable.
Plug the cable into your console and router. It should connect automatically, but you can test it by going to Profile & system > Settings > General > Network settings.
A cluttered SSD could also be the problem. Clear space by going to Profile & system > Settings > System > Storage. Go to "Manage storage devices," then "Clear local saved games."
Here, you can delete old or unused games. You might want to install a Seagate Expansion Card into your console to provide more high-speed storage for your gaming experience.
Another solution is to update your console and games. While the updates should be downloaded and installed automatically, you can toggle this feature on and off.
Go to Profile & system > Settings > System > Updates and select "Keep my games & apps up to date." You can also manually do this by choosing "Console update available" in Updates.
