These Are The Best (And Worst) Major SSD Brands, Ranked
By NATHAN P. GIBSON
7. ADATA
ADATA is a Taiwanese manufacturer best known for its dynamic RAM range. However, it has begun competing with large names in the SSD market, like Western Digital.
While the brand’s SSDs aren’t likely to have the best performance or speed, ADATA has focused on creating affordable products that are still relatively good.
6. Kingston
Kingston SSDs may be more expensive than many competitors outside of premium manufacturers such as Samsung, but that extra money is almost always worth it.
The company offers models like the Fury Renegade, an affordable and excellent mid-tier performing SSD, and the sturdy XS2000, capable of resisting water and dust.
5. Intel
Although most wouldn’t think of Intel for SSDs, the brand has expanded into producing SSDs and now owns a 12% market share of global SSD sales.
The pricey Intel SSD 670p is seen as a great solid-state drive, while the Optane DC P5800X is regarded as one of the fastest SSDs on the market.
4. Seagate
Seagate has consistently been one of the biggest brands in the data storage industry since its formation in 1979, though it only has between 1% and 3% of all SSD sales.
The brand has three separate SSD lines: the BarraCuda has received great reviews and is designed for general use, the gamer-aimed FireCuda, and the IronWolf for business users.
3. Western Digital
Also known as WD, Western Digital is a data storage company with a long history and reputation that is well-regarded and trusted by customers worldwide.
WD SSDs are typically well-built and durable. Despite being best known for its range of budget SSDs, WD has various products to suit every need, like the Blue 3D NAND.
