The Tragic Truth About This Dukes Of Hazzard Star's Dodge Charger
By ELI SHAYOTOVICH
Anyone who watched the CBS television show, “The Dukes of Hazzard,” remembers the infamous General Lee, that Hemi orange 1969 Dodge Charger. John Schneider, the successful actor who played Bo Duke, kept his own version of the car on his 58-acre production facility located in Holden, Louisiana, until Hurricane Ida struck in late August of 2021.
As the second most destructive hurricane to make landfall in Louisiana, Ida battered everything, including Schneider’s home and studio. Fortunately, the actor and his family were unharmed, but the same could not be said for the General Lee — a picture after Ida’s rampage showed the car tilted up on its side by large roots, with a tall pecan tree laying on top of its crumpled roof.
Schneider gave an exclusive interview to the Daily Mail, confirming that his General Lee was a stunt car and that he owns other models of the infamous vehicle. According to Schneider, the damaged General Lee wasn't even a 1969 Charger but a modified Ford Crown Victoria they used as a stunt car at the studio for a few years.
