The Biggest Home Appliance Brands Ranked By Reliability
By JOE HINDY
10. KitchenAid
Best known for their legendary stand mixers, KitchenAid promotes good-looking, easy-to-clean appliances with forward-thinking designs and modern features.
While your KitchenAid appliance will likely work well for many years, the brand’s products are somewhat less reliable than those of other industry leaders.
9. Ikea
Ikea’s lineup may be smaller than other appliance brands, but they are cheaper than most competitors and feature functional, minimal designs.
The brand doesn’t manufacture its own appliances. Instead, Ikea uses Whirlpool and Electrolux to create its appliances, both of which have a decent history of reliability.
8. GE
GE is one of the largest and most recognizable companies in the world. It has three household appliance brands: the base GE brand, GE Profile, and Café.
The GE brands don’t vary wildly in terms of reliability. The base GE brand has the lowest reliability score, comparable to KitchenAid, while the other two are above average.
7. Miele
The German appliance brand Miele specializes in higher-end products. Miele products are more expensive than mainstream brands and include modern designs.
While the manufacturer doesn’t have many weak products in its lineup, its overall Consumer Reports and repairability rankings are good but not exceptional.
6. Whirlpool
Often cited as among the most reliable mainstream brands, Whirlpool products are available at most big box stores and are sold at various price points.
Overall, Whirlpool appliances are reliable. Whirlpool sells exceptional products for a non-specialty brand, and its inexpensive appliances are better than most others.
