The Best And Worst Years For Dodge’s 5.7L Hemi Engine
By JOHN DAVIS
For truck lovers, the best years for the Dodge 5.7L HEMI-powered Ram pickups are 2017 to the present (May, 2024). These powerhouses boast 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque.
The slightly older 2013 and 2014 are also excellent model years for the Ram 1500. These suggested years are great in models like the Jeep Grand Cherokees or Chargers.
However, the 5.7L HEMI isn’t immune to defects. Model years 2011 and 2012 stand out as bad years for it, with 2012 Ram pickups suffering from the "HEMI tick."
In addition to the 2011 and 2012 Ram pickups, the 2005-2006 Dodge Magnum and other HEMI-powered cars are notorious for issues with the 5.7L engine.
