The 2nd Most Expensive Car In The World Was Owned By Queen Elizabeth
By ALEX HEVESY and BRITTANY ROSTON
Given her status, Queen Elizabeth II's Bentley State Limousine was unsurprisingly the second most expensive new vehicle in the world when she received it in 2002.
Despite its classic Bentley appearance, The Telegraph reports that the special model is estimated to be worth around $11 million.
The Bentley was more than capable of keeping the queen out of danger. While the British government classified specific details about it, Bentley did share some information.
According to the automaker, the vehicle is equipped with Kevlar-reinforced tires, a cabin resistant to blasts, and likely has armor plating in the doors.
Bentley designed it to be made airtight to keep the queen safe from any airborne threats and featured "specially strengthened" glass for explosions.
While the limousine was made with safety in mind, it was also intended to be comfortable. Bentley shared that the queen had a say in designing the interior.
Some distinguishing features include a cabin with ample visibility for the queen to wave at crowds and a storage compartment to accommodate the queen's favorite handbags.
The doors were hinged in a way that made it easier for the queen to enter and exit the vehicle, which was also built with a cabin tall enough that she wouldn't have to stoop.
