Small Block 350
Chevrolet debuted a new overhead-valve V8 engine in 1955 with a 265-cubic-inch displacement. It became known as the Small Block Chevrolet.
The engine has been a favorite due to its simple design, making it cheap and easy to repair. In 2012, an owner reported that his Small Block engine had nearly 1.3 million miles.
S62 V8
BMW’s S62 V8 engine is a highly technical engine developed using cutting-edge technology and sophisticated components to make it powerful yet refined.
A 2002 model appeared on YouTube in 2022, showing an incredible 542,500 miles, with the owner claiming they had never had the engine opened up for rebuild or repair.
Powerstroke 6.7-L
The Powerstroke 6.7-liter diesel is currently in Ford’s lineup and features emission-reducing technologies, such as diesel particulate filters.
Several videos have surfaced on YouTube demonstrating how the engine can reach 1.3 million miles while still being equipped with its original engine.
5.0-liter Coyote
Ford’s upgraded Coyote engine replaces the older model and features dual overhead cams with the Twin Independent Variable Cam Timing (Ti-VCT).
One owner told Ford Truck Enthusiasts that his Coyote-powered 2012 F-150 had 326,000 miles on it as of 2020 and had not experienced any problems by the time of the interview.
6.6-liter Duramax
To remain competitive against engines like Ford’s Powerstroke, General Motors partnered with Isuzu to develop the 6.6-liter V8 called the Duramax.
Diesel Tech reported that one couple, with a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 HD powered by the Duramax diesel V8, was able to reach 1.2 million miles with relatively little issue.
