Ranking The Most Reliable Sedans Ever Made
By JUSTIN OWEN
Model A Fordor
Ford followed up the wildly successful Model T with the Model A. This more modern car had more style, easier-to-use controls, and better mechanics overall.
While the car is an antique, it’s surprisingly dependable. It will require regular upkeep, but shouldn’t need more than that as long as nothing is significantly worn out.
LeSabre
The eighth and final generation of Buick’s LeSabre is one of the manufacturer’s most dependable cars. The final LeSabre ran from 1999 to 2005.
The final model was a front-wheel-drive upscale car powered by a 3800 V6 engine. While reliable, it has several issues, like occasional shifting problems.
300E
Often referred to by its internal chassis designation, W124, the Mercedes-Benz 300E is a midsize luxury sedan powered by an inline 6-cylinder, 3.0-liter engine.
The W124’s overengineered and solidly built design sets it apart from other cars. However, Mercedes Enthusiasts UK pointed out several issues, such as a weak fuel pump.
240D
The Mercedes-Benz 240D is one of the slowest sedans ever, but it can last an extraordinarily long time and is one of the toughest and most solidly built cars ever.
Diesel engines are known for their longevity in any car. The 240D features an underpowered, non-turbo Mercedes engine, which can last a long time with proper maintenance.
Crown Victoria
With Ford’s Crown Victorias having served as police vehicles and taxis for decades, it’s no wonder several sources have rated them highly for their dependability.
Cars.com shows a 4.8-star rating for the 2011 model year, with users praising its reliability and saying it rarely needs service. When it does, its repairs are cheap and easy.
