Ranking The Most Reliable Pickup Trucks of All Time
By JUSTIN OWEN
15. Rabbit Pickup
Sold from 1979 to 1984, the Volkswagen Rabbit Pickup was often powered by a diesel engine that produced 52 horsepower.
While not fast, it would excel in reliability and efficiency. Car and Driver's test of the diesel Rabbit in the 1977 issue found the reviewers achieving 39.5 mpg.
14. F-150
While the 5.4L F-150s of 2004 to 2007 were problematic due to the engine, the 1993 entry is considered by many to be the best F-150 ever made.
Cars.com's consumer reviews gave it 4.7 stars and the comments remark on how it never fails them and suffers few problems.
13. Silverado
Based on data compiled from Consumer Reports, Motor Biscuit lists the 2012 Silverado as the most reliable of the last 20 years.
Only two recalls affected this model, both being minor. It has a 315-horsepower 5.3L V8 backed up by a transmission with equally good marks.
12. Tundra
Toyota entered the U.S. full-size truck market with the Tundra. While it was a hit and showed the automaker's construction quality hallmarks, it lagged in reliability.
Motor Verso details the common problems, including ABS failures and throttle control. The 2012 models have troubles with air induction pumps.
11. B2200
Although gauging the reliability of a vehicle that hasn't been produced in nearly 30 years can be difficult, Mazda has been known to make quality products.
Cars.com rated the B2200 3.9 out of 5. Users noted their particular truck has suffered no problems, with one having 600,000 miles on the original engine.
