Ranking The Best Honda Sports Cars Ever Made
By MARK COWLEY
10. S660
The S660, the most recent in Honda's long history of making tiny sports cars, debuted in 2015 in Japan only. It was limited to just 63 horsepower and a 660cc engine.
While its acceleration was modest, its light weight made it capable of taking corners as well as larger sports cars. It sold over 30,000 units before it was retired in 2022.
9. CRX Si
It might not have been the fastest or most hair-raising car of its day, but the Honda CRX Si had many unique features that made it a collectible classic.
The Si was the range-topping variant, with the U.S. market version making 91 horsepower. Today, the Si remains affordable at around $15,000 for an unmodified model.
8. NSX (NC1)
The second-generation Honda NSX offered a mix of tech, practicality, and performance with a hybrid drivetrain and driving assists, but it fell flat in the eyes of some.
The NSX remains an underappreciated gem. However, its hybrid powertrain and driving assists, which caused debate when it was unveiled, are now standard in almost every supercar.
7. Civic Type R (EK9)
The first Civic with the Type R badge, the EK9 was undoubtedly one of the best hot hatches of its era. Its 1.6-liter engine produces 182 horsepower.
The first generation of the Type R was only ever sold in Japan, although several examples have found their way to various export markets in the decades since its release.
6. S2000
The Honda S2000's engine wasn't universally liked at launch due to its lack of power at lower revs, but the later 2.2-liter engine addressed the 2.0-liter's shortcomings.
Although the S2000 wasn't well suited forurban areas, the car came to life on long, winding roads where it could be pushed to the upper echelons of its rev range.
