Ranking Every Major Cordless Impact Wrench Brand From Worst To Best
By RUSS GOOD
10. Craftsman
When Sears sold the Craftsman brand to Stanley Black & Decker in 2017, the company changed from American-made items to imported, lower-quality products.
Current versions of its impact wrenches have a good power-to-price ratio, and if you are invested in the V20 battery system, the Craftsman Impact is a decent tool for the price.
9. Porter-Cable
Owned by Stanley Black & Decker, Porter-Cable's toy-like designs hide a reliable, reasonably powerful tool. The 20V Max Impact Wrench is its most popular.
This 6 lb, 10-inch-long tool won’t get you into tight spaces. However, others on our list give more torque in a smaller form with additional features at around the same price.
8. Metabo HPT
For $270, the Metabo HPT 36V MultiVolt Cordless Impact Wrench produces 1475 ft-lbs of nut-busting torque and with auto slow and auto stop features.
Compatible with any 18V or 36V MultiVolt battery, the company also offers an AC adapter for plug-in use — which is unique among most of the impact wrenches in our ranking.
7. Ingersoll-Rand
The Ingersoll-Rand ½-inch Mid-Torque Compact Cordless Impact Wrench with a brushless motor and 450 ft-lbs of torque is very impressive for a compact model.
The 360-degree LED light around the anvil, lights the work area far better than the handle-mounted solutions most similar impact wrenches provide.
6. Ridgid
The Ridgid 18V Brushless Cordless High-Torque Impact Wrench has a nice balance between power and price and features you’d expect in a higher-end product.
The output is lower than some other wrenches on our list but the price is decent, especially when the tool is purchased in a kit with extra Ridgid 4.0 Ah batteries.
