Ranking Each Honda Civic Generation From Worst To Best
By JUSTIN OWEN
11. 7th Generation
The 2001 to 2004 7th-generation Honda Civic retained the reliability and build quality the brand has become known for, but its styling remained more on the conservative end.
While this model often goes overlooked by many car enthusiasts, it was during this period that Honda introduced the first hybrid model Civic.
10. 6th Generation
The 6th generation, which ran from 1996 to 2000, received dramatic styling changes from the outgoing model, including an exposed grille and larger headlights.
Engine options expanded, and a four-speed automatic became optional for the first time. Honda offered this Civic in seven trim levels and three body styles, such as the Civic Si.
9. 3rd Generation
Although it still offered the efficient and reliable drivetrains consumers had come to expect from Honda, the 1984 to 1987 3rd generation provided more in the way of style.
The Civic could now be purchased in a four-door sedan, three-door hatchback, or the all-new CRX, a two-seater hatchback with a sloped rear end.
8. 2nd Generation
As consumers became more interested in fuel efficiency in the late ‘70s, Honda updated their 1980 to 1983 Civic to boost quality, comfort, and appearance.
Despite its improvements, the small car had little power. Knowing these drawbacks, Honda continued to note its extraordinary value compared to other small cars.
7. 1st Generation
The 1st generation of Civics, introduced from 1973 - 1979, was the first practical car Honda exported to the United States, which helped the company find its place in the market.
The little engine was highly efficient, and the Civic was in the right position as a fuel crisis erupted and increased gas prices.
