Problems Jeep Owners Should Watch Out For With Their Chrysler Engine
By BRADEN CARLSON
The Pentastar 3.6-liter V6 engine is found in many different vehicles across the Stellantis lineup and first appeared in Jeep vehicles in 2011.
While the engine is largely reliable when well taken care of, it does have a few minor hiccups to look out for, such as rocker arm failure.
A ticking or tapping sound from the engine's top end or having a misfire could indicate this issue. It can also cause a check engine light with a misfire diagnostic code.
However, this sound could also indicate all-out cylinder head failure. The problem was common in 2011 to 2013 model-year vehicles, though it has become rare.
Finally, some Pentastar engines experienced failures from sand-casting production remnants that can clog parts like the radiator and can cause complete destruction of the engine.
