Is It Safe To Lay Your Xbox Series X On Its Side?

With all the marketing for the Xbox Series X showing the console upright, some have wondered if they can lay it on its side without damaging it.
While overheating is a big concern regarding console orientation, Microsoft states that the console was designed to be placed in either direction without risk of any damage.
However, laying the console on its side and placing it in a small cubby space may block the cooling vents needed to combat overheating.
Microsoft suggests a minimum of leaving 4 to 6 inches of space on all sides for proper ventilation. You should also avoid putting objects on the horizontal console.
