How To Use An Xbox Controller With Your Nintendo Switch
By QUENTYN KENNEMER and BRITTANY ROSTON
To use an Xbox controller on your Nintendo Switch, you’ll need an adapter. 8Bitdo's wireless USB Adapter 2 retails for just $20 at Amazon and works with other controllers as well.
You’ll also need an Xbox controller that uses Bluetooth. All official Xbox Series X|S and newer Xbox One wireless controllers have Bluetooth inside.
To set up the 8Bitdo USB Adapter 2, first make sure that your Switch is updated to version 3.0.0 or higher. Next, navigate to System Settings, then to Controller and Sensors.
Toggle on the "Pro Controller Wired Communication" option and plug the adapter into the Switch dock or the Switch’s USB-C port.
Turn on the Xbox controller and press and hold the small "connect" button on the top of the controller until the Xbox button is blinking rapidly.
Press the "pair" button on the adapter until you start to see its LED blinking. If the lights on the controller and the adapter go solid, they have successfully connected.
