4 Of The Most Common Problems That Happen With Ryobi Batteries
By DANIEL TROCK
Many of the products made by hardware brand Ryobi rely on the same rechargeable battery packs. While designed to be long-lasting, they suffer from several particular problems.
Reduced charge
The precise operating capacity of a Ryobi battery pack varies depending on the size of the battery and what exactly you’re using it for.
However, if it doesn’t last as long as its estimated rate, it could be a faulty battery, a problem with the charger, or the device not storing the energy correctly.
Poor Charging
The standard Ryobi ONE+ Battery Charger boasts a reasonably quick charge rate, with its store page claiming that it can fully charge a 1.5Ah battery pack in around 45 minutes.
It could be a bad sign if it takes longer, with dirty or corroded connectors on the battery pack being a common issue. It could also indicate an acid leak, which is more hazardous.
Shutdowns
Devices powered by Ryobi batteries, such as the tools used by professional handymen and construction workers, are meant to be operated consistently and for long periods.
Your device facing sudden shutdowns could result from manufacturing defects or simple wear and tear. If a sudden shutdown occurs, it may need a complete battery replacement.
Overheating
While all electronic devices output heat, it’s a sign of a bigger problem when the Ryobi battery becomes too hot to handle safely and can’t operate properly.
Overheating is likely caused by prolonged usage combined with poor external conditions, but it can also occur if you leave the battery on the charger for an extended period.
