Star Wars Episode VII: Popular Ewok Actor Joins Returning Cast Members
Actor Warwick Davis, most known to Star Wars fans for playing the Ewok warrior Wicket Warrick in the original film, humorously revealed this week that he will joining the long list of stars from the original trilogy to make a return in next year's Star Wars: Episode VII. In his video, Davis mentions how excited he is about a new Star Wars flick being directed by J.J. Abrams. With a fake beard to emphasize how long he's been waiting by the phone, he can't help but immediately agree when it rings with a request that he play a role in Episode VII.
While Davis excitedly shares with us the news that he'll be in the new movie, he makes no mention of what role he'll actually be playing. Not a hint of Wicket's return, or even if he'll be an Ewok at all. This won't be Davis' first time to appear in the launch of a new Star Wars trilogy, as he played several characters in Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace, namely Wald, a friend of Anakin Skywalker.
Odds seem likely, however, that Davis will be appearing as at least one Ewok. Episode VII is already known to be taking place after Return Of The Jedi, which ended with Ewoks having helped Luke and the Rebels fight in the Battle of Endor. So it would only make sense for the species to have at least a little screen-time in the following movie, right?
We'll have to wait until December 18th, 2015, when Episode VII is scheduled to hit theaters, to know for sure what Davis' contribution will be. He'll be appearing alongside other original trilogy stars confirmed to return, including Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Anthony Daniels, Kenny Baker, and Peter Mayhew.
