Sprint HTC Hero & Samsung Moment Jumping To Android 2.1 In 1H 2010
Sprint have announced that, rather than updating the HTC Hero and Samsung Moment to Android 2.0 – as the carrier suggested would happen in the new year – it will instead be bypassing that version of the OS and pushing straight to Android 2.1. According to the carrier's Twitter account, the Android 2.1 update for HTC Hero and Samsung Moment will come in the first half of 2010.
That certainly confirms earlier speculation that HTC were planning on skipping Android 2.0 and working on porting HTC Sense to Android 2.1 instead. The newest version of Android – which incidentally is the version to be found on the Google Nexus One – is believed to be arriving roughly at the end of the year; HTC have previously said that the Hero update will drop "early next year".
