Spotify Offers 30 Mins Of No-Ad Music For Watching Video Ads
Pandora users are likely familiar with the video advertisement option that trades a block of uninterrupted listening in exchange for interacting with an ad. Spotify has announced something similar, rolling out new video advertisements that give users 30 minutes of ad-free listening.
The new video advertisements are targeted at Spotify Free users, allowing them to choose to watch a 15 or 30-second video for 30 minutes of music playback, sans ads or other interruptions. Video Takeover ads will be served up to desktop users, and sponsored sessions to mobile users.
Users will be seeing advertisements from a roster of companies — Spotify says it has already partnered with McDonalds, Coca-Cola, and NBC, as well as Wells Fargo and Target specifically for US users. You can get an idea of what these ads look like in the video above.
It isn't entirely clear if these video advertisements have already rolled out, or if they're incoming — regardless, it seems you'll be seeing them in the near future the next time you fire up Spotify. What do you think? Is 30 minutes of playback worth watching a 30-second advertisement?
