Splatoon 2 Switch Bundle Is First For US (But Good Luck Getting One)
Today Nintendo revealed the first Switch console bundle heading to the US. This isn't the first Switch bundle the world has seen, of course, as the US missed out on those excellent-looking Mario Kart 8 Deluxe bundles earlier in the year. The focus of this bundle will likely get prospective Switch owners just as excited though, as Nintendo will be packing in copies of Splatoon 2 along with a unique Joy-Con color scheme.
The bundle, which launches on September 8, will be the only place to get Neon Green and Neon Pink Joy-Cons, at least for a little while. Nintendo will likely offer these as a standalone product at a later date, but at first, you'll probably need to pick up the bundle to get them. You'll also be getting a special Splatoon 2-themed carrying case and a copy of the game itself, so you can kick off you Switch collection with one of the most popular games released for the console thus far.
Nintendo has given this Splatoon 2 bundle a suggested retail price of $379.99, so you're certainly paying a premium for that carrying case. Still, for some players, this may be their only option when it comes to buying a Switch – the console is still experiencing stock shortages more than five months out from release. With that in mind, we're guessing that many Switch fans won't mind paying the extra cost.
Now here's the bad news: this Splatoon 2 bundle is going to be exclusive to Walmart. Finding a Walmart store is likely pretty easy for most of us, but that exclusivity deal suggests that this will be a limited run. Don't be surprised to see these console bundles sell out quickly when they launch on September 8. In fact, it may not be a bad idea to line up before your store opens on that day just to better your chances of getting one.
Furthermore, Nintendo also announced details for its next Splatfest competition today. The next Splatfest will run on September 1 and 2 and will grant players the powers of flight and invisibility. More details about that Splatfest will be shared later, but for now, head down to the comments section and let us know if you're going to try to grab one of these.
