This 55-Inch Sony 4K Smart TV Deal Is $700 Off
A 4K Sony TV has seldom looked so appealing, with upgraders hoping to jump onto the Ultra HD bandwagon getting a tasty Amazon deal today. The Sony XBR55X900E 55-Inch 4K Ultra HD Smart LED TV packs Alexa support as well as a bundle of apps, but it's currently down more than $700 over its usual price.
The panel is 4K Ultra HD resolution, with TRILUMINOS that Sony says delivers better colors, and it uses the company's ZX1 4K HDR Processor. There's also Motionflow XR for a blur-free picture in faster movie scenes or while watching sports. HDR upscaling is included too.
Normally, the list price is $1,699. However today Amazon is offering the Sony XBR55X900E for $998. That's an unexpectedly large 41-percent cut.
It's a Smart TV, and Sony uses Android TV as its platform of choice. There are onboard apps for YouTube, Google Play, Netflix, Amazon Video, Hulu, and Pandora, along with Sony's own PlayStation Vue. There are more apps available to download, too.
The set itself has four HDMI inputs, two USB 2.0 ports, and a USB 3.0. There's also a component/composite hybrid input, and a second composite-only input.
Now, to be clear, this is the 2017 version of Sony's TV. That being said, you're getting a lot of set for your money, and we're not just talking about the 55-inch screen size. For a start, the 900E supports full-array local boosting and dimming, which many cheaper sets don't.
You also get Alexa support, which opens up some interesting functionality options if you want to leave your remote control on the coffee table. Pair the Sony XBR55X900E with an Amazon Echo and you can control the key features by voice. That includes turning the TV on and off, switching channels, changing between the inputs, and adjusting the volume.
If you're still in the market for an Echo device, incidentally, today is your lucky day. Amazon is also running a promotion on the Echo 2nd Generation, bringing it down to $84.99 – a $15 saving on the usual price. Alternatively, you can pick up an Echo Dot for $39.99 today.
As always with Amazon's promotions, there's no telling just how long this 4K Ultra TV sale will actually run for. In short, if you're in the market for a new TV it's probably best not to hang around if you want in on this deal.
