Samsung Rumored Making Google's Next Nexus

Since Google releases a new smartphone every year that's always the first to run its latest and greatest Android update, speculation has already begun as to which manufacturer will be producing the new Nexus for release later this year. According to DigiTimes, Google has chosen to continue working with Samsung for the next-gen device.

Samsung has made the last two Nexus devices, which include the recent Galaxy Nexus and the Nexus S before that. HTC was tapped to make the original Nexus One. With Samsung becoming the top vendor of Android smartphones, however, Google will likely stick with the South Korean company to take advantage of its innovation and ability to control the supply of key components.

Google's next Nexus is expected to arrive sometime in the fourth quarter of this year. It's believed that development on the new phone is still in its very early stages. There's still little known about Google's plans for the next-gen Android platform that will be debuting on this new device. We'll likely hear more details as we approach Google I/O in late June.
