Samsung offers X170 notebook in Barbie livery

I certainly think that there is a market for cute computers, especially those that are aimed at kids. We have seen netbooks before that were themed with Nickelodeon or Disney characters. Samsung has a new notebook that seems to be aimed at younger girls, but sports hardware making it more appropriate for the adult user.

The machine is the Samsung X170 and it is offered in bright (and I mean bright) pink or black colors. The silhouette of Barbie and her pony tail is on the lid of the rig and inside there are Barbie themes, wallpapers, and icons.

The machine has a Core 2 Duo processor, 4GB of RAM, and a 500GB HDD. That is more power than the kids that will be most interested in this machine need. From the looks of the rig in the picture above, it appears to have a 15-inch screen. I think Barbie would be more appropriate for a netbook. Perhaps Barbie is popular with adults in Korea along the lines of Hello Kitty in Japan. Pricing is unknown at this time.
