Rocket Raccoon's Creator Gets Private Guardians Screening At Care Facility

One of the men who created Rocket Raccoon was, unfortunately, not able to watch his creation come to life on the big screen when Guardians of the Galaxy hit theaters. Bill Mantlo suffered brain damage when struck by a car in the early 90s, and is currently in a long-term care facility.

Ensuring that he can enjoy the movie with the rest of the viewing public, Marvel's attorney David Althoff and VP David Bogart decided to bring the film to him. It wasn't an easy task due to security and legal issues, but regardless the two made it happen.

Mantlo was given a private screening of the film in his room at the care facility, and was also bestowed with a stuffed Rocket Raccoon toy to commemorate the moment. Said Mantlo's brother Michael, "Bill had the HAPPIEST DAY OF HIS LIFE!"

Michael and his wife Liz, as well as their cousin Jean, got to enjoy the movie with Mantlo and Marvel's movie-toting duo. Bill got to see his name in the end-credits, and in case you're wondering, he gave the film "the big thumbs up".
