Refurbished 16-Inch MacBook Pros Are Now Available

The new 16-inch MacBOok Pro is the answer to every MacBook Pro owner's prayer in almost all ways but one. It finally returns the old reliable scissors switches under the new Magic Keyboard moniker and introduced a new 16-inch sweetspot between existing MacBook Pro sizes. The only drawback, however, was the price that started at $2,400. Those who have held off buying one, however, may now have a bit of a reprieve now that Apple is selling refurbished MacBooks just three months after they first launched.

The MacBook Pros entered a rough patch in the past two years thanks to Apple's obsession with thinness. It introduced new butterfly switches that ended up ruining the entire experience for users, not to mention landing Apple in a few lawsuits. Apple's previous responses only put a band-aid on the problem and it was only until the 16-inch MacBook Pro last November that the butterfly keyboard was finally put to rest.

That wasn't the only thing going for the latest MacBook Pros, of course. It offered more power to the point that Apple had to upgrade its cooling system as well. Unfortunately, it also upgraded the price, making it one of the more expensive MacBook Pros you could lay your hands on.

Fortunately, the newly refurbished models slash as much as 15% off those prices. Instead of $2,399 for the base Core i7 configuration, you can get one for $2,039 instead. A brand new Core i9 goes for $2,799 but the refurbished option brings it down to $2,379. Amusingly, you can still splurge on some pricey refurbished options, but that defeats the purpose of the savings anyway.

As with any refurbished product, Apple promises the same attention to detail it puts on brand new products. Their virtually indistinguishable from brand new MacBook Pros and only the buyer knows it only comes with a one-year warranty. You can, of course, extend that with an AppleCare+, which will set you back an additional $379.
