Rainbow Six Siege Open Beta Postponed Over Server Issues [UPDATE]

It was announced earlier this year that Rainbow Six Siege would be delayed until December, but ahead of its launch would come an open beta. That open beta arrived in recent hours, but unfortunately was found to have numerous issues, so much so that it has been postponed with Ubisoft reverting back to a closed beta. According to the latest update, server issues and more are to blame.

Ubisoft had said in August that it needed more time before releasing the game, a decision made based on both user feedback and internal testing. Ahead of its December launch, the company opened its beta to the public, but quickly experienced numerous issues. Game sessions failed to start correctly and server issues caused failed connections on all platforms.

Ubisoft posted an update at 2PM EST today, saying that it has found the source of the troubles while working on a different part of the game, and that it is working on a fix that would be "deployed within the next few hours." The company said that gamers could expect an update at 6PM.

As of 4PM EST, the company announced that it had postponed the open beta "until a later time." When it will return isn't yet known, but the company's 6PM EST update hasn't yet arrived. Says Ubisoft, "We apologize for the delay and can assure you this is our top priority. We will keep everyone updated regularly as we continue to deploy improvements."
