Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo Wagon Coming Really Soon
From four-door to sedan to five-door. That's pretty much the metamorphosis that the Prosche Panamera has gone through in less than a decade. After just overhauling the Panamera's design and calling to a sedan last year, Porsche sees it fit to put out not only one with a sportier look but also a more spacious design. Yes, the Porsche Panamera is getting its Sports Turismo Wagon model really soon, even as early as the Geneva Motor Show in March.
The Panamera has been doing relatively well in some markets, particularly the US and China, but not all countries have the same tastes in cars. Europeans, for example, supposedly have a penchant for long roofs, which is what the Panamera Sport Turismo will bring to the table.
Design-wise, the Sport Turismo will supposedly take after a 2012 concept hybrid design which is, in a nutshell, a "shooting brake" version of the 2017 sedan. Which is to say, it will be a five-door wagon. It will also feature a rear light bar that is becoming a key element of Porsche's design language.
The Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo was designed to compete with something like the Ferrari GTC4 Lusso. It might not, however, stray far from its older sedan sibling, sporting the same engine. Other engine variants, like full-on electric or hybrids, may come in the future.
The Panamera wagon is being marketed at European markets, but there is no hint yet about its availability in the US. We'll know soon enough once the Geneva motor show goes into full gear.
