Pokémon X And Pokémon Y Sell 4 Million Units In 48 Hours
Earlier this month we mentioned that Nintendo had a new Pokémon videogame coming for its 3-D portable the Nintendo 3DS on October 12. October 12 was last weekend and Nintendo is offering up some statistics for the videogame for its first two days of availability. Nintendo launched the game simultaneously around the world.
Over the launch weekend of October 12 and October 13 Pokémon X and Pokémon Y sold a total of over 4 million units. The sales numbers are for Japan, Europe, and the Americas. Nintendo does note that the data from Europe is primarily for Saturday, October 12 because many retail outlets are closed on Sundays in Europe.
The latest game the Pokémon franchise was the first to launch globally on the same day making numbers hard to compare to previous games in the franchise. However, Nintendo says that the new Pokémon games are the fastest selling Nintendo 3DS games of all time when compared to regional data for previous launches.
Nintendo says that Pokémon X and Pokémon Y outsold Pokémon Black 2 and Pokémon White 2 by more than 70%. Pokémon is one of the best-selling franchises Nintendo offers with over 245 million games sold globally in the franchise.
