Pokemon GO Trailer Features The One And Only Stephen Fry

Today, the folks over at Niantic have presented us with a new trailer for Pokemon GO. This isn't any old trailer, though, as it takes the shape of a nature documentary in the vein of Planet Earth or Blue Planet. Niantic's marketing department even managed to snag a wise-sounding British guy to do the voice over for the trailer.

Of course, if you were expecting famed English broadcaster and environmentalist David Attenborough, you might be a little disappointed. It would appear that Sir Attenborough was busy when this trailer was put together, as instead we get a voice over by Stephen Fry. That's not to suggest Fry is some kind of poor replacement for Attenborough – indeed, he has a long history of narrating documentaries himself, so he sounds right at home in this new Pokemon GO ad.

The one-minute trailer features a lot of Generation 3 Pokemon that were just recently introduced in-game. We catch glimpses of Pokemon like Masquerain, Snorunt, Delcatty, Plusle, and even the massive Wailord. The trailer shows these Pokemon in what would be their natural habitats (Wailord in the ocean, Delcatty in a city), assuming Pokemon existed in the first place.

In the end, this is a cool little trailer that shows off many of the new Pokemon that have recently been added to the game. Niantic has slowly been adding the Pokemon roster from Generation 3 to Pokemon GO, giving veterans a reason to return and hunt some new monsters. Generation 3 Pokemon, as many of you Pokemaniacs will remember, were introduced with the launch of Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire on the Game Boy Advance way back in 2002.

In the short term, we can expect Niantic to continue adding Generation 3 Pokemon to Pokemon GO. After that, there'll probably be a bit of downtime before the introduction of Generation 4 Pokemon is underway, thereby giving players enough time to add the Pokemon from Ruby and Sapphire to their collections. Head down to the comments section and let us know if you've been able to catch any of the Pokemon featured in this new trailer in Pokemon GO!
