Overwatch Summer Games Is Live: The New Legendary Skins You Need To See
Overwatch's Summer Games event has returned, and with it comes a host of new skins and other cosmetic items to unlock. The three-week event will see players rushing to earn loot boxes to unlock these cosmetics, but just what kind of skins can you unlock? After Jeff Kaplan teased new legendary skins last week, Blizzard has now revealed all of the Summer Games skins that will be available during the event.
As expected, the skins that are available are a healthy mix of new and old legendary skins, with the skins that made their debut in last summer's event returning again this year. If you missed out on those skins the first time around, the good news is that you'll be able to secure them at a discount this year. Instead of the 3,000 coins event-exclusive legendary skins typically cost, the legendary skins from the previous Summer Games will only set you back 1,000 coins.
The gallery you see below previews the new and returning skins for Overwatch's Summer Games. There are seven new legendary skins shown – one each for Reaper, Widowmaker, Mercy, Junkrat, Soldier: 76, McCree, and at long last, Sombra. The skins belonging to Junkrat and Mercy seem particularly cool, so expect to see a lot of players sporting those from here on out.
The rest of the skins in the gallery are returning from last year. If you started playing Overwatch after Summer Games 2016 wrapped up and you want to unlock all of the skins, you certainly have your work cut out for you – all in all, there are 19 Summer Games skins to unlock.
Of course, the time-limited cosmetic unlocks are only one part of the Summer Games offerings. A major draw of this event will almost certainly be Lucioball, which is unquestionably one of the most enjoyable event modes ever to be released for Overwatch. Overwatch Summer Games 2017 lasts until August 28, so get to earning some loot boxes.
