Netflix Original Series 'The Umbrella Academy' Renewed For Season 2
Netflix has renewed its original series The Umbrella Academy for a second season, the company has announced. The show's first season debuted in mid-February, earning generally good critical reviews and very high viewer ratings, at least based on popular online ratings platforms. The show's core cast will return for Season 2, according to the team, but we'll have to wait a while before it premieres.
News of the renewal first surfaced on the official The Umbrella Academy Twitter account, where a video was published announcing that "Season 2 is coming." The seven core cast members comprising The Umbrella Academy's gaggle of dysfunctional super-powered adults will remain for the show's second season, it has been confirmed, including Ellen Page, Tom Hopper, Emmy Raver-Lampman, David Castaneda, Aidan Gallagher, Robert Sheehan, and Justin H. Min.

The show, which is available to stream on Netflix in all markets where the service is offered, is based on a comic book series by the same name from Dark Horse Comics. Universal Content Productions is behind the Netflix series, which has which currently has around a 75-percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes and 97-percent viewer rating on Google.
The original series revolves around a group of now-adults who were born with special powers and adopted by a man with less than pure intentions. After experiencing a childhood that left them varying degrees of dysfunctional, the remaining children are reunited under a common circumstance and forced to remain together after receiving news of the world's upcoming end.
Umbrella Academy season one left viewers with a distinct direction for the second season, covering a number of bases and neatly wrapping up many elements introduced over the course of several episodes. Despite covering so much ground, the show introduced a huge plot twist that paves the way for a solid second season.
