Mewtwo Glitch Hits Super Smash Bros. For Wii U And 3DS

Earlier this week, emails with codes to download the playable Mewtwo character in Super Smash Bros. for the Wii U and 3DS versions of the title rolled out to qualified gamers (those who had registered both versions of the game during the promotional period). It's a special perk for those gamers, while the rest of us are forced to wait for the character's availability until April 28. It looks like we're not missing out on too much, however, with a new glitch causing gamers grief and prompting a statement from Nintendo.

Mewtwo is a new DLC player, but those who are using the Wii U and 3DS versions of the game won't be able to fully enjoy it until Nintendo pushes out a patch. Gamers began reporting problems shortly after getting the character, with it affecting select modes within the game.

If you're playing as the character, you should avoid playing in All-Star, Classic, Stadium, Smash Run, and Trophy Rush modes. If you do, there's a good chance you'll be hit with a glitch that will keep you from being able to play online.

Nintendo said in a statement on April 16 that it is looking into the problem and will be releasing a patch to fix it. Some gamers are also reporting problems with the character in the 3DS version of the game; it appears gamers should avoid "Field Smash" in that game as well until the patch is ready.
