Mercedes-AMG A 35 4MATIC has a track data logger and 306hp

Mercedes-AMG has unveiled a new entry-level car that not only looks very cool, it packs performance as well. The car is the Mercedes-AMG A 35 4MATIC and it has a 2.0L turbo 4 that makes 306hp and 400 Nm of torque. Mercedes fits the car with a high-strength, lightweight die-cast aluminum crankcase.

Mercedes uses a twin-scroll turbo for responsiveness. Power goes to all four-wheel using an AMG Speedshift DCT 7G dual clutch transmission. A Race-Start function helps with max acceleration from a standstill, this is launch control. The 4MATIC system can spend power to the front wheels only or split it 50:50 between front and back wheels.

ESO modes include comfort, ESP Sport Handling, or ESP Off. Five different driving programs are integrated with Slippery, Comfort, Sport, and Sport + modes. Each program has its own characteristics for engine and transmission response. An individual setting also allows the driver to customize.

Ride Control suspension is integrated, and the adaptive damping system has three modes. Brakes are high performance, 4-piston Monoblock front and single piston sliding rear calipers. An AMG exhaust system has an automatically controlled flap for sound variation with the drive program. The car rides on 18-inch light alloy wheels and has special AMG body tidbits.

Inside, the car has special seats for support and the MBUX multimedia system. The instrument cluster is fully digital with three display styles. The steering wheel has touch control button and the AMG Track Pace system is a data logger for track use. It can record speed, acceleration, and lap and sector times. The car will premiere at the Paris Motor Show October 2 and will launch in January in Western Europe. It's unclear when/if a US launch will happen.
