Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 Passes Through Korean Ratings Board
If you were a fan of the original Mega Man Legacy Collection, then good news: it looks like a follow-up anthology has made a stop at the Korean Game Rating Board. Of course, since these are just re-releases of classic Mega Man games, it was a safe assumption that a second one would pop up sooner rather than later. Still, this pass through the Korean Game Rating Board suggests that the game is close to becoming a reality.
As spotted by Gematsu, Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 will offer Mega Man 7, Mega Man 8, Mega Man 9, and Mega Man 10. Notably, only two of those are "classic" games, with Mega Man 9 and 10 released back in the Xbox 360 and PS3 era as a throwback to the old 8-bit and 16-bit Mega Man games. The Mega Man faithful, however, aren't likely to lose sleep over that particular distinction.
Gematsu points out that the collection was rated for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. In other words, it looks like Capcom might not be making a version for Nintendo consoles. This is a break from the platforms the first game supported, as the original Mega Man Legacy Collection was released on the 3DS.
The fact that Nintendo platforms are missing from this certification may not be cause for concern, though. After all, the original Mega Man Legacy Collection was released in 2015 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC, while the 3DS version didn't make it shelves until 2016. It could be that Capcom wants to get these versions out the door first and then follow up with Switch or 3DS versions at a later date.
In any case, the fact that Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 appeared at the Korean Game Rating Board means we should be getting official confirmation from Capcom soon. As previously stated, it makes a lot of sense that Capcom would go for a second anthology to finish re-releasing the series, so we probably expect something to materialize before long. Stay tuned.
