Taking the 2016 Miata and making it even more appealing isn't easy, but Mazda has attempted just that for its SEMA 2015 showing in Las Vegas this year. Two cars, each riffing off the coveted roadster, have made their debut, the MX-5 Spyder Concept and the MX-5 Speedster Concept.

The Spyder goes classic roadster, ditching the regular MX-5's convertible roof in favor of a "Spyder Bikini Top" that's stretched across for inclement weather.

As for the Speedster, it's an even more extreme interpretation, doing away with windshield and roof altogether. That's allowed Mazda to trim more than 250 pounds from the curb weight.
