MacRumors Swindles Us All, MacBookAir.com Not An Apple Site

MacRumors actually owns the MacBookAir.com domain and set it up so it performed a redirect to a query string on the Apple site of "Will We see a MacBookAir on Tuesday" which resulted in the site we were all seeing earlier today. That's why, if you go to macbookair.com now, it won't do anything because Apple has apparently begun rejecting the query.

It is kind of hilarious, myself and I am sure several others in the blogging community had our panties all in a bunch and it was all over nothing. Although, one nice piece of info is that apparently one of their readers did see a machine identifying itself as a MacBookAir on the 9th in their Adium usage log, which is well before just about anyone saw the banners go up.

I never ever thought that the days leading up to an even would be so much harder to cover than the actual event itself. I mean, tomorrow, we are going to show up there, be shocked and awed by the crazy cool stuff Apple has come up with for about an hour and a half, and then its pretty much done, but I have been covering stuff leading up to MacWorld for weeks. Anyways, like I said, we'll be there covering it, livecasting even, so if you are up early enough, click the link in the bar to the right and check out what's going on.
